As part of our ongoing staff development program, we recently put two of our engineers through the Lloyds Register, CQI and IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor Training Course, based on ISO9001:2015, to assist in our busy Measurement and Allocation system audit program for our global customers. The COVID safe course was attended by our Engineers; Fiona Tinnion and Gareth Lake.
Any of you that have completed this course will know it’s not a walk in the park and has plenty of homework designed to challenge the would-be Auditor. One of their biggest takeaways from the course was the coaching of how to ask questions. Engineers are naturally factual by their personality type, so the importance of asking OPEN questions during audits was particularly enlightening for both of them. So, if Fiona or Gareth turn up to audit one of your systems, be prepared to answer why you changed that orifice plate last year, not just did you!
